BLU 470 Superyacht Charter
Built in 1990 by the world-renowned Dutch shipyard Feadship, Blu 470 measures 49.68 metres (163') with a beam of 8.69 metres (28'6"), a draft of 2.92 metres (9'7") and a volume of 478 GT. The motor yacht's classic exterior design and naval architecture is the work of De Voogt Naval Architects and follows the same classic lines that make her Dutch sisterships so distinguishable. Her blue hull adds a touch of class to her sophisticated design, setting Blu 470 apart from the usual all-white superyachts cruising the seven seas.
Accommodation consists of three double suites and one twin cabin on the lower deck in addition to an expansive full-beam master suite on the main deck forward. With her generous accommodation arrangement for up to 10 guests, a luxury yacht charter experience on board is one holiday you can take the entire family on - even the little ones.
"Blu 470 is a fantastic charter yacht for a variety of guests and is well equipped for everything from lively groups of friends to families with young children,” says Captain Ian. “All the crew are great with children, and we can entertain them in many ways throughout their time with us - from treasure hunts and arts and crafts activities to taking them out on the water on our selection of watersports equipment and water toys. Making cookies with the chef is always a favourite for the younger guests and gives parents some private time to relax onboard!"
Not only is the yacht itself perfectly set up for every type of guest, so too are her dedicated crew of 11 who hail from across the world. This star team is the cherry on the Blu 470 cake and strive to make every experience on board an unforgettable one. "The crew pride ourselves on being very good at reading our charter guests and understanding exactly how the crew should interact with them," adds Captain Ian. "A luxury yacht charter is an individual experience, and we cater to all guests’ needs. We always remain professional and can be as present or discreet as needed."
Luxury Yacht Design
Donald Starkey and American designer Patrick Knowles undertook Blu 470’s interior design using a bright colour palette and a selection of luxury materials. The main saloon on the main deck is used for more formal occasions on board, with a grand dining table for glamorous dining experiences. The upper saloon benefits from beautiful views as well as an elegant interior design which works to bring a relaxing vibe to the space. The addition of a bar and comfortable seating opens the area up for memorable experiences day or night.
The generous bridge deck is where guests tend to spend the majority of their time, according to Captain Ian. This open and relaxing space invites guests to get comfortable in the outdoor lounge area or gather around the dining table for a fun, family-style, alfresco meal at sea.
Beach Club Vibes
One of the highlights on a Blu 470 superyacht charter is undoubtedly the beach club and her huge store of water toys. The large swim platform is perfect for safely entering the water, and it is here where you will find the superyacht’s impressive toy collection. In addition to her main 37' Axopar chase tender that is finished in the same colour scheme as the mothership, guests can make the most of two three-seater Yamaha Waverunners, a jet surfboard, two SUP paddleboards, inflatable kayaks, snorkelling gear, SeaBobs, waterskis, fishing gear - and just about every other luxury yacht toy a charter guest could want for.
For those looking for something more relaxing but still want to be close to the water, the sundeck is the place to be. This expansive deck is ideal for lounging, working out with the onboard gym equipment, or getting some alone time under the shade of the mast bimini where a jacuzzi overlooks the foredeck and the scenery beyond.
For a fantastic end to the day, Blu 470’s team are masters at creating a private paradise onshore. Travelling by tender to a remote beach far from the crowds, guests are welcomed to a full beach set up right on the shore. "These sunset beach set ups are very special," says Captain Ian. "We dress a deserted beach full of fairy lights and lanterns and enjoy sunset cocktails and delectable snacks from the yacht. It's an exceptional experience."
"We love to bring that level of uniqueness to our activities on board, too," he continues. "Our table settings are particular highlights, especially when we do themed evenings such as Greek, flower power, Italian, ‘70s and ‘80s disco or casino night. These are always special nights where guests really let their hair down!"
Top Class Superyacht Service
To match the top-class service and ambience created by the interior and exterior deck crew members, Blu 470’s chef goes all out to deliver Michelin-star quality cuisine day after day. Professionally trained and having travelled the world, she is able to cater to every type of dietary requirement and palate. "We are incredibly lucky to have a chef who has studied an array of cuisines from Thai, Indian, Lebanese to Sushi, Italian and Chinese," adds Captain Ian.
"The crew are very proud of Blu 470, and I think that definitely comes across. If the crew are genuinely happy, then everything else simply falls into place." It is this team spirit and sense of ownership that puts Blu 470's crew a notch above the rest, translating into a guest experience that is sure to become each charter guests' new benchmark.
Built for long ocean crossings, she is as comfortable as any other with her built-in stabilisers and a durable steel displacement hull. Equipped with twin CAT diesel engines, she boasts an impressive range of 5,000 nm, offering yacht charter guests a comfortable cruising experience at 12 knots.
